11 People Who Died Taking Stupid Selfies


This guy doesn't count because luckily he wasn't harmed while taking this crazy picture. But he could have been. This selfie was taken in the middle of a tornado. Smh.

It is the age of the selfies and everyone from old ladies to little babies are taking photos of themselves. People go to great lengths to take a good selfie. After all, there is no greater feeling than looking at the selfie you just took and realizing it came out amazing!

A selfie however, should not cost you your life, which is unfortunately what happened to these eleven people who tragically died while taking selfies.



Sywia Rajchel, 23, was a Polish medical student who fell 15 feet from a bridge while taking a selfie. She was visiting Seville, Spain, walking along the Puente de Triana bridge, when she stopped to take a photo. She was balancing on the ledge when she fell to her death.




Xenia Ignatyeva was only 17 years old when she plunged to her death. The teen was taking a picture on a railway bridge in Saint Petersburg when she fell 30 feet to her untimely death. She tried to grab onto live wires and was hit with 1,500 volts of electricity. Tragically, Xena did not survive the fall.





A polish couple visiting Portugal fell off the edge of a cliff while trying to take a photograph. The couple's children, aged 5 and 6, watched as their parents plummeted. The parents crossed a safety barrier to get to the cliff's edge in order to take a perfect selfie.





A 16-year-old from Italy named Isabella Fracchiolla suffered serious injury after falling over the railing of a promenade. The teen was on a field trip to Toronto and was unable to steady herself causing her to fall 60 feet to the ground. She was rushed to a local hospital and underwent surgery, however doctors were unable to save her.




A 21-year-old man from Spain was electrocuted to death after being struck by a high-voltage wire. The man had climbed on top of a stopped train in order to take a selfie when he touched a live wire. He was hit with 3,500 volts and was instantly killed.




A Mexican man named Oscar Otero Aguilar, pointed a gun to his head and tried to snap a photo. The gun discharged and a bullet struck him in the temple. When police arrived on the scene Oscar was still alive, however they were unable to save him. The whole thing was a terrible accident.




Courtney Sanford was driving when she decided to upload a bunch of selfie pictures to Facebook. She also made the status "The Happy Song makes me so HAPPY." Seconds after she posted the status she crashed head on into a truck, killing her instantly.




Karen Hernandez was only 13 years old when she died after she fell into the El Tunal river in Durango, Mexico. The young teem was just trying to snap a photo when she slipped and drowned.




Fifteen-year-old Edwin, of Chiyyaram, near Thrissur, in India was reportedly killed after being struck by a speeding train. The teen was attempting to take a photo with his phone in front of the train when he slipped on the rails and was hit.




Abhilash, a 32-year-old man, died while trying to record a video of himself fake hanging. He was planning to post the video to his Facebook page. The man apparently ended up hanging himself for real while trying to shoot the fake video.




Ramon Gonzalez, more commonly known by his stage name, Jadiel, was a Puerto Rican rapper. He was visiting Rochester, New York and decided to take his motorcycle out. Before he left, he snapped a selfie that would be his last picture he ever took. He lost control of his motorcycle and was killed.
